How are silicone rubber seals and gaskets installed on lawn lights?

Installation of silicone rubber seals and gaskets on lawn lights typically follows these steps:
Clean the flange face: Before installing the seals and gaskets, you first need to thoroughly clean the flange face or other connecting parts of the lawn light. Use a clean cloth or brush to remove all dirt, grease and contaminants and make sure the flange face is flat and clean so that the seal and gasket fit snugly.
Check the sealing surface: Make sure the surface roughness of the flange surface meets the requirements. For metal wound gaskets, the surface roughness of the sealing surface should be 3.2μm; for some metal gaskets, a higher surface roughness may be required. This step is critical to ensure sealing effectiveness.
Positioning the seal and gasket: Place the silicone rubber seal and gasket on the flange face, making sure they are perfectly centered and not offset. Eccentric installation will result in uneven bolt preload along the flange circumference, which in turn will affect sealing effectiveness.
Pre-tighten Bolts: After installing the seal and gasket, begin pre-tightening the bolts. Use a torque wrench to preload the bolts in accordance with the preloading torque specified by the manufacturer to ensure that the preloading force of each bolt is uniform. When pre-tightening, the bolts should be tightened gradually in a diagonal manner to avoid localized over-tightening or over-loosening.
Checking the sealing: After completing the pre-tightening of the bolts, check the sealing of the lawn lamp. This can be done by visual inspection or by using pressure testing equipment to detect any leaks. If there are signs of leakage, the bolt preload should be readjusted or the seals and gaskets should be replaced.
Additional tightening: For lawn lamps exposed to outdoor environment for a long period of time, the sealing performance may deteriorate due to factors such as temperature changes and material creep. Therefore, after a period of use, additional tightening is recommended, i.e., pre-tightening the bolts evenly again to restore the sealing effect.
With the above steps, silicone rubber seals and gaskets can be effectively installed on lawn lamps to ensure their waterproof performance in outdoor environments. The correct installation method is the key to ensure the long-term reliable operation of lawn lamps.
