What are the environmental requirements for chip production?

1. Cleanroom environments are critical to LED production. Because the chip manufacturing process is so sensitive to foreign particles, even tiny dust particles can short-circuit a chip or degrade its performance. Generally, chip manufacturing plants are required to meet Class 100 - 1000 cleanliness standards, which means that the number of particles larger than 0.5 μm per cubic meter of air has to be controlled within a certain range. In such an environment, staff need to wear special clean work clothes and enter the workshop through equipment such as air showers to minimize the possibility of bringing in dust.

2. Temperature and humidity control is also critical. During chip epitaxial growth and packaging, small changes in temperature and humidity can affect material properties and process stability. For example, during MOCVD epitaxial growth, reaction chamber temperatures typically need to be precisely controlled between a few hundred degrees Celsius and more than a thousand degrees Celsius, and humidity needs to be kept low to ensure the quality of the epitaxial layer growth.
